What it is
A varicocele is a dilated pampiniform venous plexus around the testicle. Embolisation of the refluxing internal spermatic vein is done from a small neck puncture — no scrotal surgery.

Symptoms & signs
- Aching scrotal heaviness worse at day's end
- Palpable 'bag of worms' scrotal veins
- Sub-fertility with abnormal semen parameters

Diagnosis
Clinical exam and scrotal Doppler.

Treatment
Catheter embolisation via right jugular puncture, coils or glue, day-case.
